College Sponsors Motorsport Student
North Lindsey College have sponsored motorsport student, George Benton, helping him race to pole position.
Karting enthusiast George, has travelled Europe taking part in various karting championships races. He has gone on to win three Club Championship Grand Prix and, this April, he came third in the British 125 Karting Championships at Darley Moor in Derby.
George said: “I have been interested in motorsport from a young age. My family race and I get a huge buzz from taking part. I fix and work on the kart myself using the practical skills that I have developed on my course. The sponsorship from North Lindsey College will be going towards repairing and improving my kart in preparation for the rest of the season. “
The former Outwood Academy Brumby student is currently working towards a Level 3 Extended Diploma at the College’s Engineering Technology Centre. In the future he hopes to progress on to a top university and secure his dream job of working for a high end motorsport team.
George added: “The tutors at North Lindsey College are really supportive. I came to college with a basic understanding of mechanics and since joining North Lindsey College, my practical skills and maturity have really improved.”
Clive Parkinson, Curriculum Leader for Motor Vehicle said, “I am really proud of what George has achieved. It is great to see our students putting the skills that they have learnt in the motor vehicle workshop into practice. George always puts 100% into everything he does and I know he will go far in the future. “
