North Lindsey College and Doncaster College Consider Merger
We are pleased to confirm that North Lindsey College and Doncaster College are at an early stage in discussions about a possible merger.
As one organisation, we would be a major regional education provider, creating exciting opportunities for our current and future students.
Serving our local community will always be a priority, and we would continue to deliver skills and training locally. We would keep our name and preserve our local identify, working with businesses in our area and providing training and skills development in the areas they need.
At the same time, we would be able to tap into employment and specialist skills opportunities opening up across our region. We would offer choice across further and higher education as well as professional and technical qualifications, apprenticeships, adult and vocational learning - helping students take advantage of local and regional employment opportunities. As a financially strong organisation, we would also be able to invest across our curriculum and infrastructure.
There will be no immediate changes for staff or students at either college: current courses will continue and prospective students should apply for courses in the normal way.
Anne Tyrrell, Principal said: "This is the start of what could become an exciting opportunity to build on the existing strengths of both colleges for students, staff, partners and local communities. A driving principle is that both colleges retain their individual names and identity meaning that North Lindsey College will continue to exist and the combined college will strengthen opportunities across both localities."
A formal consultation will take place later this year and we hope everyone with an interest in our college will take part. We’ll share more details soon.
