‘Travel the World’ with The Children’s University
The University Centre at North Lindsey College are pleased to offer the first North Lincolnshire Children’s University learning event of the academic year, going global with the ‘Travel around the World’ experience.
This will be held in the Events Centre at North Lindsey College on Wednesday 25th October 2017, 10am-12.30pm and 1.30pm-4.30pm. The day will celebrate a variety of cultures and traditions from around the world and will feature many hands-on activities for primary age school children to get involved in
University Centre students along with students and staff from across the College will be supporting the event. For example,Travel and Tourism students will be taking visitors to experience the aeroplane cabin on site and Hospitality and Catering students will be making international culinary delights for the children to taste. Furthermore, there will be some external visitors supporting the event, such as Time Out Drumming, Amnesty International and Confucius.
Gillian Reid at the University Centre, Programme Leader for the FdA and BA (Hons) Children, Learning and Development programmes, said, “The North Lincolnshire Children's University was launched at the Science Fair in 2016. There are currently ten schools working in partnership with the College. The Travel around the World experience is partially about developing our current University Centre students' employability skills, but it is also about educating young children about diversity and providing them with the opportunity to see that there is life beyond Scunthorpe, raising their aspirations.”
Those children who already belong to The Children’s University are encouraged to bring their passports; however, the event is open to all children. Any schools interested in joining the North Lincolnshire Children’s University should email firstname.lastname@example.org for more information.
