College Launches New Dance Academy
North Lindsey College has launched a brand new dance academy aimed at 11-16 year olds.
Taught on Saturdays, the academy is aimed at young people who are interested in performing, competing and choreographing dance.
From now on students can come onto campus to learn in our industry standard studios, to access new classes covering contemporary, commercial and indie ballet. Classes will cost between £2 and £2.50.
“We created the academy as we wanted to get more young people into dance and inspire the next generation of talented performers," says North Lindsey College dance tutor Katie Lampkowski who is heading up the academy. "The academy is open to 11-16-year-olds no matter what their ability, from beginner to advanced level. There’s even the opportunity for young people to audition for our youth company that will compete at dance competitions locally and nationally. It’s not too late to join in and get involved. We are offering quality training for affordable prices and an opportunity to work with guest choreographers.”
The College currently offers school leavers the opportunity to study a Level 3 Diploma in Dance. The College dance team have won numerous competitions locally and nationally recently.
Recent North Lindsey College dance graduates have progressed on to study at top universities and stage schools.
Recently graduate Devon Piatt-Panton, from Melior Community Academy, was offered places at two reputable London dance centres to pursue his dreams after studying at North Lindsey. This September, he went on to study a BA (Hons) in Dance at the Creative Academy.
Devon said, “I absolutely love the course and the tutor, Katie, is the best I’ve ever met. She challenges us and pushes all of us to do our best. Without her I wouldn’t have improved as much as I have and I wouldn’t be here today without her.”
