College Supports Scunny Bunny
North Lindsey College kick off another year as the main sponsor for the famous Scunthorpe United mascot, Scunny Bunny.
This is the second year the Scunthorpe College have sponsored the cotton tailed mascot, which is a regular pitch side at home and away games. The sponsorship signals a continued strong working partnership with the club and the College.
"It is great that the College and SUFC are working closely together," says Ian Hamilton, Curriculum Leader in Sport and Uniformed Services. “This can only be of benefit to both organisations and the students.”
Striker, Kevin Van Veen recently visited the College to inspire future football stars, as part of Scunthorpe United's summer holiday soccer school. The soccer school was a massive success, with over 50 young players attending the College for a full day of training and fun.
“It has been great to see so many young people taking advantage of our facilities and staying active," adds Ian.
"Working with SUFC meant that in October last year, 74 of our Sport and Uniformed Service students completed the NCS programme through SUFC," continues Ian. "The students enjoyed a fantastic experience away in the Lake District completing various physically challenging activities, completing a first aid course and designing and implementing a project to deliver within the community."
From Sept 2017 the first year Futsal scholars will complete their education package through North Lindsey College, their study will take place at SUFC's home ground Glanford Park. All students participating in the Futsal programme will still benefit from all of the opportunities associated with being a North Lindsey College student. Last year the scholars were National Champions under the guidance of the excellent coaches at SUFC.
Ian concludes, "We continue to look forward to building on our relationship between both the College and SUFC through team teaching, guest lecturers and work experience opportunities for the learners.
