North Lindsey College headline sponsor for regional event
North Lindsey College is proud to be sponsoring the North Lincolnshire Half Marathon family fun run organised by Tape 2 Tape.
The fun run, aimed at young children, takes during the May bank holiday weekend and coincides with the half marathon taking place at Quibell Park on Sunday 6th. The course starts shortly after 9am, is around 0.85 miles in length. The event is now in its seventh year and promises to be bigger and better than last year.
The fun run will start on Scotter Road in exactly the same place as the half marathon and will finish with a lap around the running track at Quibell Park. There is only a 69 feet of climb over the entire half marathon course, making it one of the flattest half marathon courses in the country.
The College’s very own Lindsey Lion is to be making an appearance at the event and cheering on the young running enthusiasts.
Ian Hamilton (North Lindsey College Curriculum Leader in Sport and Uniformed Services) said, “I am delighted to be supporting all the participants for the third year running with students from Sport and Uniformed Services. This is a great opportunity for our students to support our community and have a positive impact. We will be based at the last water station encouraging all the runners for the last mile. This year we also have music students with us to provide some entertainment for the runners. It is always a great morning and really showcases our College and our students in a positive manner. The students will also be cheering on many members of their friends and family as well as Uniformed Services tutor Frenchy Grieswood.”
The finish line for both courses is on the track in the athletics stadium where supporters will be greeting all the participants.
