Sport Student Placed in the Top Three for National Awards

North Lindsey College student comes third in prestigious national awards.

Sport student, Sophie Hibbert was shortlisted and placed third in the AoC Awards for Inspiring Student/Student Volunteer.

The AoC Student of the Year Award celebrates exceptional students, who have gone above and beyond, whether in college, their local community or in extra-curricular activities.  The achievements and successes of these individuals make them stand out from the crowd.

Kate McDonald (Head of Performance, Technical & Professional) at North Lindsey College said, “I am absolutely delighted with the news that Sophie is an AOC runner up for 'most inspirational sports student/volunteer'. She thoroughly deserves the recognition of such a prestigious Award nationally. She is an inspirational student who wants to achieve the very best. She optimises studying in the sports department and has even been into local schools with staff to share her College experience with them to let them know why they should study at North Lindsey College.  All staff who contribute to Sophie's study are very, very proud of her, no more so then her Programme Tutor, Alex Bromley. Sophie has a very bright future ahead of her.”

Sophie Hibbert, 18 (Level 3 Extended Diploma in Sport, Development, Coaching and Fitness) said, “I was so shocked to hear that I had been nominated and shortlisted.  I am really happy and proud to be representing the College.”

Sophie is hoping to progress onto Higher education to study for a sports degree at the University Centre in Scunthorpe.
