Bumper December open event planned at North Lindsey College

Due to popular demand, North Lindsey College is to host its biggest-ever Christmas Open Event to date with a very special guest attending.

Saturday 1st December, 10.00am - 2.00pm is the date to remember for the event which will not fail to disappoint.

The event has all of the activities you would expect of the popular Scunthorpe College, with all curriculum areas fully open. With visitors having the opportunity to chat to tutors and current students, as well as make their application for September 2019.

For the first time ever in Scunthorpe the show stopper at the event and special guest for 2018 is Bjorn the bear.  Bjorn is a full size animatronic polar bear.  Together with his Arctic conservationist companion, Bjorn is the centerpiece of an interactive performance which is a cross between a petting zoo and a nature documentary. During the show the audience will find out about how polar bears survive in the Arctic and get the opportunity to interact with Bjorn; he’s very friendly and doesn’t object to being patted, stroked and tickled behind the ears.

Tickets are free, but need to be booked through the College’s Facebook page to see Bjorn as places are limited. Admittance to this performance is by ticket only.

North Lincolnshire’s Children’s University also be in attendance and will have a range of free, fun activities to get involved with. Along with a winter grotto, where children can see Father Christmas. Children linked up to the Children’s University are encouraged to bring along their CU passports, so their experience can be validated with the official stamp.

The festivities will also include a full festive market in a large outdoor marquee, a full festive choir, stilt walkers and further entertainment from a traditional penny farthing rider.

A spokesperson for North Lindsey College said, “it’s important to us as a local provider that we open our campus up in full to our local community. We’re really proud of our fantastic facilities and for many this may be their first opportunity to look around and get to know us. Our open events and community fun days always prove to be must attend events for many people, so we’re really looking forward to welcoming people onto campus on the 1st.”
